Religious Education

Religious Education at Manifold Church of England Academy is in accordance with the Christian foundation of the school, specifically the rites, practices and doctrines of the Church of England. RE plays an important part in creating the distinctively Christian ethos of our school.

We aim to provide high quality RE using the Understanding Christianity Scheme. Christianity will account for approximately 2/3 of the lesson time with the rest linked to appropriate teaching about other faiths and world views.

Through a varied range of activities pupils will be encouraged to explore how God has been revealed to humanity and how this has lead humans to respond in a way which exemplifies Christian values such as: justice, forgiveness, compassion and love. Gradually they will be given opportunities to critically reflect upon their own spirituality, beliefs and values, thinking about the ultimate questions facing society today and beginning to get a sense of their own unique place and active role within it.

We are fortunate enough to have our local church within walking distance. Children enjoy going to church for services including Ash Wednesday, Easter, Christmas and at other times in the Church and school year. Pupils also use the church grounds as part of their wider education. The pictures below show children in KS1 drawing pictures of the Church as part of their Art topic.
