Harvest Supper & Auction

20th October, 2017

On Friday 20th October, Manifold Academy once again opened their doors to the community to celebrate Harvest Time. The school drive was decorated especially for the evening with an array of delightful plant pot sculptures, created by the children with a little assistance from their parents. The children put on a wonderful production of The Gingerbread Man and used this to teach the audience about the schools chosen charity, ACE (Africa’s Children in Education). Their performance also illustrated the difference between healthy and unhealthy breakfast choices. The children did a brilliant job and the show was much enjoyed by their parents and other members of the community. It was followed by a delicious Pea and Pie Supper. Given that 120 tickets were sold, the caterers did an amazing job of feeding the crowds with the most enormous Desperate-Dan style meat pies! Donations of cakes and sweet treats rounded the meal off. Once everyone had been fed, young auctioneer, Joe Critchlow, once again wielded his gavel and sold his way through 47 donated lots. These ranged from vegetable hampers to garden gates to pampering vouchers; the star lot of the night was a stunning orange wheelbarrow, which was gifted by local firm Altrad Belle. Manifold Academy wish to publicly extend their warm gratitude for each donation. The auction and supper raised a staggering grand total of £1583 for Manifold’s active and successful PTFA. In addition, £150 was raised for ACE and is currently winging its way over to help fund the provision of breakfast for the children who attend Arise Community School, located in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. Manifold would like to thank all members of the community for their support and contributions on the night.
